Janette Vardy is Professor of Cancer Medicine at the University of Sydney (USYD) and medical oncologist at Concord Cancer Centre, where she is Director of the Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre. She founded and co-leads the University of Sydney Survivorship Research Group with A/Prof Haryana Dhillon. She is supported by a National Health and Medical Research Council Investigator Grant (2020-2024). She is co-founder and co-chair of the International Cognition and Cancer Task Force. Her research interests are focused on survivorship issues, in particular cognitive function, physical activity and multi-disciplinary delivery of care.

Prof Vardy’s presentation will focus on cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) in people with non-CNS solid tumours and non-metastatic cancer. Together, you will explore the prevalence and discuss differences in cognitive symptom and objective neuropsychological performance.  You will be shown the evidence of the duration of CRCI and look at possible aetiology and risk factors as well as the impact from different cancer treatments.  Finally, you will be provided an overview of neuroimaging results in people who have received chemotherapy and finally an overview of potential treatments.

We look forward to having you attend the event!
