Health Innovators from Japan Visit RHIP to Share New Technologies

RHIP was delighted to host the J-StarX MedTech Cohort on 10 March 2026, welcoming leading Japanese innovators as part of their immersion into Australia’s health innovation ecosystem.

The visit was coordinated by JETRO and delivered in collaboration with the Melbourne‑based MedTech Actuator, which runs the J‑StarX Health Care Acceleration Program in Japan. Seven Japan‑based health technology companies presented their emerging solutions to an audience of RHIP scientists and clinicians, followed by networking and in‑depth discussions over lunch.

Tim Regan, RHIP’s Executive Director, noted, “RHIP is committed to developing its networking capabilities, and events like this provide an ideal platform to foster new collaborations, both organisational and individual.”

The strong representation of digital health solutions reflected global innovation trends. Technologies showcased included VR‑based therapeutics for mental health, telepresence systems for robotic surgery, AI‑assisted diagnosis for neurodegenerative disease, and AI‑enabled therapy for eating disorders.

This joint event, now in its second year, is becoming a valued fixture in the RHIP calendar.

RHIP extends its thanks to Matthew Frith and Makenzie Thomas from the MedTech Actuator; Takayuki Watanabe and Mari Futagami from JETRO; speakers Stephen Palmer, Ian Goon, Eric Wei, and Lyn Moir; and the entire RHIP team for their contributions to a successful event.

If you would like further details about the event, potential site visits, or opportunities to collaborate with RHIP, please contact Stephen Palmer or Tim Regan.
