The Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct (RHIP) is delighted to announce Adjunct Professor Elizabeth Koff AM, the former NSW Health Secretary and current Managing Director of Telstra Health, as their new Chair of the RHIP Council.
Elizabeth has a long history of association with RHIP, holding many roles in South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and the role of Chief Executive of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) prior to moving to NSW Health. As Secretary of NSW Health, she was committed to creating research precincts across NSW to drive the benefits of co-location of education, research and health service delivery.
Ms Koff is looking forward to joining the Precinct and leading its strategic priorities.
“I am impressed by how much RHIP has already achieved. It’s an honour to chair the Council, and I’m excited to help build upon our strong foundation of partnership. Joining RHIP feels like both a homecoming and the beginning of a new adventure.”
The Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct brings together world-class education, research and healthcare organisations to address real-world problems across the human lifespan, from newborns to centennials.
The Precinct is creating an integrated environment that expands and enhances their capability as a world-leading university, clinical health and business innovation cluster, in a permeable community space where people work, study and live.
RHIP’s Acting Executive Director Dr Stephen Palmer is looking forward to utilising Ms Koff’s leadership experience.
“I am overjoyed Elizabeth is joining us. Building an innovation precinct is much more than bricks and mortar, it requires collegiality, intentionality and leadership and Elizabeth has vast experience in these areas,” he said.
Elizabeth was awarded a Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) by Western Sydney University in 2022, a Doctor of Health Sciences (honoris causa) by the University of Sydney in 2023 and a Doctor of Health Care (honoris causa) by UNSW in 2023. She was also Chair of the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council (AHMAC) and its subsequent iteration, the Health Chief Executives Forum. She is also a member of Chief Executive Women.
In the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2022, Elizabeth was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.
Elizabeth assumes her new role from January 2025.
